This school's locker room stinks like dirty socks and the school doesn't have lockers so you have to carry them around and in the lunch room the staff let you use your phones and they play music. This school has nice teachers and staff and it's a big school. The desk should not be attached it makes kids harder to sit in their chairs. They should also turn the AC down a little.

The principal and assistant principals are terrific. Some of the best teachers in Katy ISD and possibly the state are at this school. We would not have traded this year for anything. The school has a great mix of kids, it is diverse in a good way. The admistration and teachers set a good example and seem to love what they're doing and care about the kids. The communication from the teachers is one of the best we've ever experienced. My child was in preAP/GT core classes and was appropriately challenged and engaged. It really was amazing what the teachers were able to do this year, even if some of the classes were large, because the kids were engaged and learning. We have lived in many different states and school districts, and this school is one of the tops in our opinion! They also have one of the best theatre departments in Katy ISD!

This school is terribly overcrowded and I agree that the emphasis seems to be more about being "just good enough" rather than excelling. Wish someone could explain to me how with all of our tax dollars we cannot provide textbooks or lockers to our kids. Very disappointed, I am spending an hour and a half in traffic each day for the privilege of sending my kids to KISD....not getting much yield out of it though

We have nothing but positive things to say about WCJH! We recently relocated to Katy last August 2012 from San Antonio where my son went to an exemplary school there in NEISD. He actually loves WCJH more than his old school. The transition was much better than I expected in jr. high when kids are reluctant to change schools. WCJH is very welcoming and the principal is wonderful in my personal opinion. Although this is her first year at WCJH, she came from Stanley Elementary which we were told is one of the best elementary schools in the area. My son is in all Pre AP classes (I would highly recommend) and we feel the bar is much higher than his previous school. Several of his teachers send detailed emails each week communicating what the students are working on in class. We never got this type of communication before which I really like. I also really like the all the various ways of communication that is offered (text, email, Edmodo, etc.). If this helps at all, I would highly recommend this school based on the last 5 months of attendance and from our previous school. I cannot compare this to other KATY ISD schools since we have not lived here all that long.

ITS AVERAGE! This school is pretty much average to KatyISD standards but its great. One of the problems is the students are NOT encouraged much to achieve high goals as possible. The principal (no offense) in my standards is too young, therefore after being with teens so long, acts like one. She is not whatsoever interested in the accomplishments/activities of the students at this school. She really is one of the drawbacks of this school. Another thing is that the only thing heavily emphasized and adknowledged at this school is football and cheer which isnt fair to all the other students excelling in academics and other sports. The only thing keeping this school pretty good is a small group of students who work very hard and make wcjh's name known due to their achievements. This school is very good if your child stays in the right company is motivated to do their best. GO WCJH!

We are not happy with the overcrowding this year. Students do not have lockers and have to carry their backpacks. There is too much homework and not enough done in class. We are not receiving proper communication. We did not even get to meet the teachers. Just via a presentation on Edmodo. We are hoping things will get better when the new junior high is built.

The school does not have enough text books for kids. Kids need to access the online ones, which are hardly accessible. The edmodo is full of comments and it is takes forever to get to the info needed. Many times cannot even upload the assigments, if there are others using it. Most of the teachers are great and keep kids engaged and enlightened. However some of them just give assignments which not only are laborious, time consuming, giving zero value addition to the student's knowledge, but also kill their interest and drain them out. Eg 1: What is the big idea of drawing pictures of French and Indian people at war, when what you have to remember is the sequence of events and dates and causes and effects. Instead of this, kids are made to draw and color like toddlers, rather than learn and analyze. Eg2: Why create stories and aurthor story books in Math class, when the kids need to learn and apply formulae and Math concepts. After all the edmodo was never updated on time with the right assignment doc Eg3: Despite teaching vocab, grammar etc teachers want students to make videos. This school seems to be much different than other schools of Katy ISD, like Beckendorf etc.

Last year everything was wonderful. However this year school is extremely overcrowded. No lockers for 8th graders (at least), no textbooks to take home for my 8th grader...This is disconcerting. Staff are wonderful, and atmosphere is good except for the extreme overcrowding.

What an excellent school! The principal is great, the teachers are fantastic, the school work is challenging, hands-on, and project based. Everyone has a can do attitude! I am looking forward to having both my children at WCJH next year.
