Adam Elementary School8

Houston, TX | Harris County

June 5, 2011

Adam has been a great school for our son in first grade. His teachers Ms. Skinner and Ms. Jordan have been such a great help this year. He has had some learning disabilities due to past seizures and they went above and beyond to get him extra tutoring and in class help thoughout the year and he has increased his reading ability to almost right on level. I agree with other parents that the open concept is not generally the best for children. Especially with all the ADD problems, etc. But it does seem like they have a system that helps them get past this issue and if our son did okay with it, I'm sure anyone can.

Adam ROCKS! My husband went to Adam some 35 yrs ago and we wanted our son to have the same schools. as his father. I was not thrilled w/the Open Concept for the class rooms, as our child is very hyper. He completed his Kinder year with some mild bumps and turns but the staff are great! I would recommend Adam ES as it is the staff that make the school what is....EXCELLENT. We are very happy thus far and will report the findings after his 1st grade experience then.

We had issues with the open concept. The boys could not learn in that environment. Teachers were great, principal was wonderful and so was the assistant principal. However, due to the constant issues with the open concept, we pulled them out to homeschool.

I don't like the open concept. The teachers seem to be nice, however I consistently catch errors in spelling and punctuation in things sent home, signs at school, etc....

My daughter moved to Katy ISD this year and she was so behind her classmates because of starting at Adam. She enjoyed her time there, however the open-concept went out the open-window with the 80s - it doesn't help students or teachers and provides ditraction to an already distracted generation. The attention to academics, future preparedness, and love of learning she gets from her new school blows Adam out of the water - no comparison!
