West Memorial Elementary School8

WME has a great set of teachers that have many years with the school. That right off the bat should tell you something. There's a new Principal and VP, which I believe have done a great job so far. WME is not as crowded as the other schools which allows for a low student/teacher ratio. Teachers can focus on those children that have a difficult time. We have moved and my children will be attending a new school in the fall, but I can guarantee you, I will miss this school. Ms. Bezner, Ms. Do and Ms. Cremona are awesome teachers and I will surely miss them. So will my kids!

This is my 5th tour of duty as an elementary school parent, and I'm very thankful that none of my other experiences were so awful. This school needs a serious over-haul, and I don't mean the building! From half-interested Teachers to a Principal & office staff that clearly play favorites, I can not wait to move and enroll my child somewhere else. It's sad that we moved to Katy because the schools have such high ratings. If this is an example, then I think we'll go back where we came from. If you are not a Stepford parent with a Stepford child, willing to be manipulated by the staff, then you won't enjoy being part of this lackluster school. Obviously KISD doesn't have the quality of expectations that I had hoped for.

This school is a disgrace to KISD. They should give parents a property tax refund. This school is slowwww. The curriculum is less than challenging. The bathrooms are dirty. The teachers are slobs. The brightest kids are suppressed and oppressed. Field trips are far and few. By junior high, the kids are smoking pot and freaking on each other, in the school bathroom. Academic boredom and mediocrity sets in around kindergarten. Fundraisers run daily, and never end as if the school has no other source of funding. Fundraising is even more important than advanced learning. Bus service is skimpy. This school makes you rethink the whole public school thing. On the flip side, kids LOVE getting so little homework.

The Parents with the positive thougths MUST be teachers. This school is HORRIBLE!! NO parent communication. I see teachers with no control over classrooms and being rude to students. Not sure how one of the rudest teachers win teacher of the year. Also, if I have any issues, the AP never CALLS ME BACK. It is only when I call KISD home office directly to complain, then I get a phone call...perfect timing?? My husband and I are having a house built that is zoned to Holland. Cannot wait...

The faculty encourages the students to excel, and the community rallies around the school functions eagerly. It's like the Notre Dame of elementary Schools. Academics, community, extra-curricular, and the spirit of cooperation! It's all there to make this school a Center of the community!

It really is about the small touches. The swingset for small tykes, the meal, the teachers, and the leadership in a Principal thats deals with it all.

This is a great school. The principal and vice principal know most of their kids by name. The teachers are caring and really work with the kids. My child has enjoyed and grown academically at this school.

After attending a huge Elementary in Katy last year, West Memorial is a nice change. It's nice for your child to go to a school where the Principal and Vice-Principal know so many of the kids names. Although the parent involvement could improve a little, the ones that are involved are really dedicated to WME. It's a nice school really dedicated to your child's education.

Two of my three children attend WME and we love it. The teachers we have had have been wonderful and have high expectations for my children. THere are lots of opportunities for parents to get involved. I am thankful for our little school amongst the huge schools in Katy.
