This is our first year at Powell. We are extremely happy with the teachers, principals, and all around staff. Everyone is very warm and welcoming. Lisa Garrison is a great principal! My daughter has grown so much this year emotionally and intellectually and I thank the school for this!

Horrible experience so far. Have two kids at Powell. We have felt from everyone we have met and tried to work with that they do not have the best interest in mind for the kids. Every decision made is based off of how it might affect the overall test scores for the school. My daughter is struggling with reading, but is doing awesome in math and science. but because she is behind in reading they want to hold her back. I have a huge issue with this. She is the oldest in her class already, and her other studies are not suffering from her being slower at reading. Even though we have asked several times about dyslexia and how we have her tested. They have been no help. The school talks about holding her back but then will not put her in the RTI program that is design to help kids like my daughter. I struggle with this school and our education system in General. Why get into education at all if you don't truly have the best interest in mind for the kids. They ask for the parents to be involved but if the parent isn't able to help out I feel they punish the kids.

We have three kids in Powell and have loved it! The teachers are wonderful and the staff is very caring. We have never had any problems with the school. The parents are involved and the curriculum is challenging. My kids love the school and we, as parents, couldn't agree more.

Excellent school with professional teachers, staff and principal. Could not be happier with my daughter's experiences at Powell. It doesn't get any better than this!

Powell Elementary has an excellent track record. My personal contact with Powell has been professional and enthusiastic. The teachers are dynamic and creative. They have a plethora of experience when dealing with the needs of children on an individual basis. My son was tested for dyslexia and although he does not meet the disrtict requirements for qualification his teacher is servicing him for dyslexia because she promotes his success. I am so grateful for the wonderful staff at Powell! Thank you!!

The teachers, counselors and principals do not know how to handle special needs in the classroom. The effect for my son has been a miserable experience at school. I'm pulling him out.

Great teachers - and they take the time to get to know each child individually. Smaller class sizes.

This school has been a huge disappointment. As a parent of a special needs (autistic and vision impaired) child, I expected more from an exemplary school. We just moved here and the previous non-exemplary school was more equipped and staffed to help my child succeed. This school has only set back my child who absolutely cannot have any more set-backs! They have no idea how to accommodate any special needs students, and that includes the principals and therapists!

We have recently relocated to the area and are very happy with Powell. This was my daughters first year of school and her kindergarden teacher was the Best. I am really going to miss her. She made my daughter feel welcome and comfortable! She has become very confident in all aspects. I feel our family made a great decision by sending our child to this school, and very lucky to have had Mrs. Harris for her kindergarden teacher!

I am a parent of an autistic child and I found the school environment was not suitable for special needs children--to be fair I do not feel that public schools are equipped to meet the specific needs that these children require.

The teachers are fantastic and the secretary has always come across as helpful and pleasant, but the principal I dealt with was incredibly rude and cold. She was much to busy to answer questions and seemed annoyed that someone was taking up her time. -Kathy Garringer

I have never seen such lack of care for children. I don't know where the lack of caring is, but if I were you I would see the rest of the elementary schools in The Woodlands!
